Term 3 has been a jam-packed, with the second half proving just as busy as the first. From guest speakers, to Year 11 Retreat and focused learning weeks such as Book Week, Mental Health Week and Sports Week, all while navigating Melbourne's unpredictable weather, our school community has remained engaged and enthusiastic.
Halfway through the term, Iwan Walters, MP for Greenvale, generously visited our Year 12 Legal Studies classes to speak about law-making and reform. He shared his experiences with legislative change and was impressed by the thoughtful questions and discussions from our students. We are grateful to Iwan for taking time out of his busy schedule to be with us.
We also celebrated Mental Health Week in Week 9, a celebration of mental health awareness and the incredible impact that open and honest conversations can have on our well-being.. It's also. Students participated in PC activities that promoted positive body image, self-care, and how to ask for help when needed. Lunchtime activities included creating dream catchers, glitter bottles, and courage bracelets, and a walk around the oval in solidarity for RUOK Day - an opportunity to walk and converse, a great reminder that we all need a little extra support sometimes, and that it's okay to ask for help and to offer voluntary help to those around you, even if it's just a walk and a chat. The week culminated in a Sports/HPE/crazy socks day and a thrilling staff-student basketball game, where staff were beaten on the buzzer by students by just one basket. A big thank you to our Wellbeing Team, Student Wellbeing Captains, and the Student Senate for their hard work in making this week such a success. This was a great kickstart to this week's Sports and HPE Week and the inter house soccer tournament!
Finally, a reminder that Term 4 marks the beginning of the summer uniform. While students may still choose to wear their winter uniform, for those opting for summer attire, dresses must be worn at or below the knee, and the monogrammed summer shirt can be worn untucked. Blazers are required to be worn to and from school until Melbourne Cup weekend, after which they become optional. For more details, please refer to the uniform policy on our website.
As we approach the term break, we wish our Year 12s the best of luck with their practice examinations during the first week of the holidays, as they prepare for their official exams in just over a month. We also wish our amazing college community, staff and students alike, a restful and rejuvenating break, ready to approach Term 4 with positivity and energy!
