On Tuesday the 13th of July, we had a guest presenter from the Butterfly Foundation speak to our year 10 students about relationships with eating and exercise.

Some key topics discussed in the session were around building body confidence and self-esteem, understanding the impacts of social media on body image, diet culture and having healthy relationships with the body and eating. The session highlighted the importance of seeking assistance from a teacher, parent or professional or talking with a friend if they have concerns around body image and its impact on their mental health and wellbeing.

Students discussed ways to feel good about themselves and their bodies and strategies to promote self-care and body positivity.

Body image is a key area to understand and discuss especially for young people. Parents and careers can support young people by modelling healthy and balanced attitudes and behaviours around body image and eating.
