As the new Year 11 & 12 Curriculum Leader I am privileged to work in partnership with Ms Samantha Mizzi, Director of Students (Senior Year) and your child’s year level leaders, Mr Glen Widdiecombe and Ms Sarah Relf to support your young person reach their maximum potential in their final years of their secondary school learning journey.
Our Mission at Kolbe is that Everybody grows.
As we pass the halfway point of the Term One, we have begun to see this growth in our senior students. They have hit the ground running this year and are to be commended for their dedication and commitment they have shown in their studies so far. They are encouraged to continue building on the good study techniques and habits they are developing as we move toward the holiday break.
Finding the right work, school and life balance is essential for success. Research tells us that teenagers require between 8-10 hours of sleep a night but the average teenager only gets 6.5-7.5 hours. Lack of sleep can lead to chronic sleep deprivation which over time may increase the risk of depression, anxiety, low self esteem and low academic performance at school. Sleep in addition to keeping active and eating well are key ingredients for maintaining a well balanced lifestyle and ensuring students are ready to learn each day.
On a final note, some friendly reminders…
Year 12 students are encouraged to book their one on one meeting with Ms Williams to continue to explore their post Kolbe pathways
medical certificates are required for any extended absence or missed assessments for all year 11 and 12 students
Year 12 Parent Teacher Interviews will occur online via Zoom on Tuesday 19 March 2024 4-7pm. These offer an unique opportunity to meet your child’s subject teachers and learn ways in which you can further support them in their studies
As a College community we look forward to our continued partnership with you this year and invite you to contact us with any questions or concerns.
