The Melbourne Branch of the Dante Alighieri Society was established in 1896. It is part of a global organisation committed to promoting Italian language and culture internationally.

Thousands of secondary students participate each year, thus improving their confidence and spoken Italian.

Kolbe Catholic College was delighted to be a part of the Poetry Recitation Competition. This provided students from Years 9 – 12 with the opportunity to learn and recite an Italian poem - ranging from excerpts of Dante’s Comedy to those of contemporary Italian poets.

Students presented their chosen poem in front of a judge on the 18 th of May 2021. All students who successfully participate in the Society's competitions receive a certificate acknowledging their achievements.
