We know the Kolbe community will make our new staff feel very welcome!
What an enriching day of learning on August 16! While students took a short break from classes, the Kolbe staff had the opportunity to participate in some engaging and targeted professional learning of their own.
Our teaching staff continued to build on their existing knowledge of cognitive science and how they can support the literacy growth of their students across all subject areas. Teachers and learning support staff engaged in various workshops covering topics including daily review, strategies to check for understanding, interpreting literacy data and activities they can run with their classes to build vocabulary knowledge.
Our Administration team took the opportunity to attend a team building exercise off campus working in groups completing many activities. This was an opportunity to thank them for their hard work where they support our community in many ways.
Our Learning Support Officers were involved in an information session on Autism Spectrum Disorder. During this session staff discussed the disorder, how it can present in both males and females and ways to assist students who may be on the Spectrum. This session enabled our LSO's to build awareness of and strategies to assist students how may be diagnosed with Autism Spectrum disorder.
