Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:

where there is hatred, let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;

where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despair, hope;

where there is darkness, light;

where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek

to be consoled as to console,

to be understood as to understand,

to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive,

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

On 4 October, the Catholic Church acknowledges the Memorial of St Francis of Assisi. I invite you to reflect on the Peace Prayer and the humble actions of St Francis, who believed in simplicity and prayer.

As we reach the end of Term 3, it is an opportune moment to reflect on the hard work we have achieved in 2024, especially for our Year 12 students as they conclude their formal studies. We will return in Term 4, refreshed and revitalised, excited to work towards the end of the year and begin the season of Advent.

Recently, all our Year 11 students participated in their Retreat days, an opportunity to spend time in prayer and discernment, whilst consolidating their relationships with each other and with God. The students are to be commended for their engagement with the facilitators and the respect they showed each other during these sessions. I would also like to thank all the Kolbe staff who helped supervise these sessions. These days do not happen without our dedicated staff, their support is greatly appreciated.

On 5 September, we celebrated our final house mass - Teresa. We thank Fr Samuel Pearson for presiding over the mass and all the students who contributed to this sacred occasion. Well done to the members of Teresa house for their respect and participation in the mass.

Every Monday and Thursday morning we pause as a community to pray together and I would like to thank all the students who volunteered to prepare and read prayers for our college. On a few occasions this term, we prayed together as a college every day. A special thanks to our Wellbeing and Faith Captains who helped facilitate prayers for Mental Health Week and Languages Week respectively.

Finally, as a college, we look forward to acknowledging our Year 12 students and the conclusion of their formal studies early next term. The Year 12 Graduation Mass and ceremony on 18 October will be a momentous occasion to celebrate with our students and their families as they prepare for their exams and life after Kolbe Catholic College.

Peace and Blessings.
