Almighty ever-living God,
By whose gift we venerate in one celebration the merits of all the Saints, Bestow on us, we pray, through the prayers of so many intercessors,
An abundance of the reconciliation with you for which we earnestly long. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
St. Maximilian Kolbe,
Pray for us.
Amen.
Every November in the Catholic Church is a month dedicated to remembering those who have passed. November 1st, All Saints' Day, is a day to pray for all the Saints in the Catholic Church, while the following day, All Souls' Day, offers an opportunity to pray for all the departed. The prayer above is traditionally recited on All Saints' Day, seeking their intercession in our lives. I encourage you and your families to take time this month to remember and pray for the departed who held special places in your lives.
This penultimate edition of the 2024 newsletter provides an opportunity to reflect on the celebrations we've already marked this term, as well as those we eagerly await as the year races to a close.
First, it was an absolute privilege to celebrate Mass with the Year 12 class of 2024 and their families. The Mass, presided over by Fr. Dishan Candappa, offered spiritual guidance that helped our Year 12 students complete their studies in a profoundly Catholic way, preparing them for their exams and the next steps in life. I extend thanks to all who contributed to this Mass and to the parents and family members who joined us for this special occasion.
On Monday, November 11, we will pause as a college to observe Remembrance Day. This significant annual event holds added importance given the conflicts that persist in our world. Originally marking the end of World War I in 1919, since 1997, Remembrance Day also acknowledges all Australians who died or suffered in wars and armed conflicts. Our 2025 Year 11 Faith and Year 11 Community Captains, Alicia and Grace, will lead this ceremony for the college community. I commend them for their preparation and for stepping into this role as one of their first official duties.
Finally, we will close the year with end-of-year Masses and liturgies for our students and staff. I look forward to concluding the 2024 academic year with prayer and celebration as we prepare for the coming of Our Savior.
Peace and Blessings.
