As we conclude Term 1, 2025, we continue our preparations for Easter.
Our final weeks have been fantastic opportunities to engage with our faith, both here at Kolbe and for some of our students, off campus.
On the 21st of March, Kolbe Catholic College was ably represented at the annual Mass for Schools, as part of Catholic Education Week at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. We joined 296 other schools in celebrating the mass, with Archbishop Peter Comensoli as the principal celebrant. The day took on additional significance as an icon of St. Patrick was revealed and blessed. The mass also incorporated the commissioning staff and student Jubilee Ambassadors for all Catholic schools in the Melbourne Archdiocese. We look forward to the leadership of our Ambassadors, particularly for the Australian Catholic Youth Festival in Melbourne later this year.
Here at Kolbe, during Catholic Education Week the Journey in Faith faculty created some activities to add some local celebration. Students were able to participate in Rosary making, prayer and meditation and an AmazinGrace. Thanks to all the students for their participation and the staff for helping facilitate these opportunities.
To conclude the term, Romero House gathered for their Feast Mass, celebrated by Fr. Godfrey of Our Lady’s Craigieburn. As a college, our final faith celebration will be our Easter Liturgy. As it is a Jubilee Year, this year’s liturgy will focus on some of the Jubilee celebrations that will occur throughout 2025, including the two Canonisations we are anticipating. The prayer I have attached to this article is one written by our Faith Captains and will be used as the concluding prayer for our Easter Liturgy.
Upon return from the Easter break, MacKillop House will celebrate their Feast Mass and we will also pause to acknowledge Anzac Day. We look forward to marking these important occasions next term.
Finally, have a safe and happy Easter to every member of our Kolbe Community.
Peace and Blessings.
