The final weeks of Term 2 are typically the busiest time of the year for teachers - with assessments and SACs being completed, examinations to write and mark, reports to write, camps and much more. In the last four weeks of this term, Mr Scully and I set about meeting with as many of our teachers as possible to conduct ‘temperature checks’. This was a chance to check in on the wellbeing of our staff and to identify any ways to temper the stresses and pressures of these few weeks. By the end of the term, we had met with at least 75 of our 103 teaching staff!
While undoubtedly busy, it was wonderful to hear the positivity, passion and enthusiasm of our teaching staff and their commitment to supporting the students at Kolbe. We appreciated their thoughtful suggestions and creative ideas about how the College can continue to support staff and students to thrive.
As the busy term draws to a close, I would like to acknowledge the hard work of the Kolbe staff and wish everyone a well-deserved winter break.
Next term, we will welcome some new faces and have familiar faces taking on new roles in the College. We welcome:
Ms Candice Vitug - Teacher (English)
Ms Chantelle Murrone - Teacher (HPE)
Ms Kamaria Brancato - Teacher (HPE)
Mr Noah Davis - LSO
Ms Melissa Chapman - LSO
From Term 3, the following staff will take on Acting Leadership roles. Congratulations to the following teachers on their appointments:
Mr Daniel Mackertich - Acting Learning Leader (HPE)
Mr John Cassar - Acting Learning Leader (VET)
Ms Lucinda Szechenyi - Acting Learning Leader (EAL)
We look forward to seeing these new leaders build on the strengths of the curriculum and programs offered by the College.
As this term draws to a close, we wish a fond farewell to Lidia Ficarra-Rametta who will be moving on to Ave Maria College as Learning Diversity Leader. We also said goodbye - at least for now - to Mr Chris Laffan who has taken leave from the College to take up the opportunity to pursue his professional cricket coaching career. We thank both Lidia and Chris for their contributions to the College over many years and for their work, in recent times, as Learning Leaders of EAL and HPE, respectively.
