Term 3 is typically the busiest of all. This term is unique in that it lacks exams, public holidays, or other significant days, with the exception of Kolbe Feast Day. As a result, there have been minimal disruptions to classes, allowing day-to-day activities at the College to proceed smoothly. As we transition from the gloomy days of winter to the vibrant sights and sounds of spring, the College has embraced the opportunity to connect and celebrate the small things through themed weeks and house-based activities.
We dedicated specific weeks to celebrate Languages, Science, Books, Mental Health, and Health and Physical Education. These weeks featured various activities, including dance, experiments, student-led initiatives, dress-up days, relaxation sessions, and staff versus student basketball games. The staff versus student basketball game was a personal highlight for me, as I enjoyed participating, even if only briefly. Once again, the students emerged victorious by two points. Additionally, our bi-weekly House Morning Teas were a cherished tradition, with each staff member contributing delicious treats and homemade food, which certainly made the winter months more enjoyable.
With the arrival of spring, it becomes evident that Year 12 students are nearing the end of their journey. Whether they are completing their final Unit 4 work in preparation for exams or finalising their evidence for a Vocational Major, everything seems to come to a swift conclusion. I encourage all students to continue striving for their best and to use the holidays as a brief respite, keeping their studies in mind. The English exam will kick off the exam period on October 29.
I wish all students and families a safe and relaxing term break and hope that your football team triumphs. Term 4 will bring changes in uniform, exam preparation, end-of-year celebrations, and much more. I look forward to continuing our work together toward a successful conclusion to 2024.
