Batyr visits the Year 12s at Kolbe
Before Term One concluded this year, the year 12s participated in a Batyr session. Batyr is a mental health advocacy organisation, focusing primarily on youth and how different challenges in life and school can be addressed.
The session was about helping the year 12s deal with the stress or challenge of change. Part of this session included hearing from one of the team members about how change has been a challenge in their life and how they were eventually able to overcome situations with the help of people around them; encouraging us to seek guidance and help from those around us when we are struggling.
There was also another activity in which each year 12 wrote a message to the year 7s on a post-it note and that was put into a frame and added to the library. One of the last things the year 12s were shown were quick methods on how to deal with the stress that comes with change.
