Congratulations to our talented students, Sophia Abou Asali (Year 12, 2024) and Zyle Tacoloy (Year 11, 2024), whose artwork has been selected for inclusion in the Hume Youth Anthology 2024. On Friday 6 December, I had the honour of attending the Hume Youth Anthology Awards and Exhibition Launch, where I had the chance to view the incredible submissions that will be showcased in a three-month gallery installation at the Gee Lee-Wik Doleen Gallery at the Hume Global Learning Centre in Craigieburn.

The Hume Youth Anthology is a yearly publication that showcases creative works from young individuals in Hume City. Each year, young people between the ages of 6 and 24 are encouraged to submit artwork, poems, short stories, comics, or photographs that reflect a specific theme. The Anthology was created to highlight and honour the creative expressions of Hume's youth. The theme for the 2024 edition of the Hume Youth Anthology is Heritage and Diversity.

A special highlight of the evening was the announcement that Zyle Tacoloy's work "Dreams across the Horizon" was selected by the Mayor of Hume City, Cr. Jarrod Bell for the front cover design for this year’s anthology. This is a wonderful achievement, and we are incredibly proud of both Zyle and Sophia.
