Year 11 Student Leaders Shine at National Youth Summit in Canberra

We are proud to share that four of our Year 11 student leaders represented our school at the National Youth Summit, held at Parliament House in Canberra on Monday, 12th of August. The summit, created by Together for Humanity and supported by the Federal Department of Education, brought together young leaders from 17 schools across the country to engage with pressing national issues and present their perspectives to key decision-makers.

The event began with a warm welcome to Ngunnawal Country by Aunty Violet Sheridan, setting the tone for a day of respectful and thoughtful discussion. Our students were given the theme of "Growing Belonging in a Disconnected World" and chose to focus on cultural awareness throughout the Kolbe Community. Their presentation highlighted the importance of fostering inclusivity and understanding in educational settings, proposing practical steps to create more culturally aware and cohesive school communities.

Throughout the summit, the students had the opportunity to hear from prominent leaders, including Samantha Mostyn AC, the Governor-General of Australia; Maria Vamvakinour MP, Member for Calwell; Jason Clare MP, Minister for Education; and Dr. Anne Aly MP, Minister for Youth. Their articulate and insightful presentation was well-received by the distinguished audience, which included these influential figures and other local and federal politicians.

We commend these students for their hard work, dedication, and the outstanding manner in which they represented our school on the national stage. Their participation in this summit is a testament to the quality of student leaders in the Kolbe community.
