The Performing Arts department offers students the opportunity to explore their artistic expression, and Semester 1 has certainly demonstrated this. New students have joined lunchtime clubs and private tuition, while regular participants have continued to grow in their confidence and abilities.
Viewing professional work is an integral part of learning as it allows students to make connections between their own practices, the outside world, and storytelling. As part of the Year 9 Drama Program, students had the opportunity to see the performance "360 All Stars". Students travelled to Arts Centre Melbourne to be audience members in the Playhouse theatre.
"360 All Stars" was a physical circus performance that featured BMX bikes, basketball juggling, breakdancing, acrobatics, drumming, and more. The show was accompanied by spectacular video projections and included live soundtracks. The show featured a stellar cast of world champions and record-holding artists and athletes. It was a memorable show for all who attended.
It is with sadness that Chris Paraha leaves Kolbe Catholic College. Chris has been working one day per week teaching student’s guitar and drums. He has been instrumental in the growth of those who have been fortunate to be tutored by him. Chris has been offered full-time work and, as a result, can no longer tutor. We wish him every success for the future and thank him for the lasting impact he has had on the staff and students at the college.
The Performing Arts team wishes families and students all the best for the holiday period and looks forward to welcoming everyone back in Term 3.
