In Semester One the Performing Arts focused on building students' skills and confidence. This semester we have moved into the performance phase. Students are preparing to present at exciting upcoming events in front of an audience.
On Monday, August 14th, the community celebrates its Feast Day. Students have had the opportunity to register for Kolbe’s Got Talent. This whole school event takes place in the stadium, and I am pleased to announce that we have over 40 students who have chosen to take part. We are proud of them for their courage to participate and wish them all the best in their final preparation.
On Tuesday, October 17th, the college invites the community to attend the Performing Arts Showcase. This will take place in the school chapel at 6:30 pm and will be a chance for students to showcase their remarkable talents from throughout the year.
Well done to the many students involved in the Instrumental Music program and those who have registered to commence shortly. Lessons are conducted by highly skilled musicians Heidi Duncan (piano), Chris Paraha (guitar/drums) and Amy Koprek (vocal). We also now welcome Gus Cox, who will be taking lessons whilst Chris Paraha is on leave towards the end of term. Gus is an accomplished musician/tutor in guitar, drums and trumpet. We look forward to welcoming him to the team.
Before school Dance Club has started. This is a great opportunity to work on dance skills and lessons cater for the beginner to the advanced. Students are welcome to attend in the Dance Studio on Wednesday mornings from 7:45 am-8:30 am. Interested students must register by emailing lroso@kolbecc.catholic.edu.au
The Performing Arts department continues to encourage students to join in the large array of activities on offer at the College. Taking part has significant benefits, including building on confidence, self-esteem, expression, improved concentration, teamwork and friendships.
