The Performing Arts at Kolbe has had a fantastic start, and yet another incredible year of events, entertainment, and new learning experiences lies ahead.
There is something for everyone! Lunchtimes are buzzing as students either participate in or come watch the activities, which include:
Choir – Monday
Karaoke Club – Tuesday (Day 2) or Wednesday (Day 8)
Dance Club – Thursday
Drama Club - Friday
We are excited to introduce Lara Minca to the team as our new Dance Tutor. Students have eagerly taken part in trial classes, and on Thursdays at lunchtime, the room is filled with enthusiastic participants moving and grooving in the Hip-Hop class. From beginners to experienced dancers, the energy is high, with students from Years 7 to 12 learning new hip-hop routines.
Private tuition continues in Piano, Guitar, Drums, Acting, and Voice. Numbers are increasing, and I encourage students who are interested in extending their skills to sign up, as the program has exceptional tutors and has been delivering excellent results.
On Tuesday 18 February, the Kolbe Choir had a wonderful opportunity to visit The Backlot Recording Studios in South Melbourne. The choir learned about the intricate process of recording a song and had the chance to record two tracks: "This is Me" and "True Colours." These songs will soon be shared with the community. Well done to the Kolbe Choir as they continue to grow in both numbers and opportunities! All students are welcome to join the choir who rehearse in the Performing Arts centre on a Monday at lunchtime.
Students will showcase their performing arts talents at three major events this year:
23 May – Performing Arts Soirée – Kolbe Chapel, 5:30 PM
14 August – Kolbe’s Got Talent – College Event
21 October – Showcase – Kolbe Stadium, 6:30 PM
In addition, students have the opportunity to participate in Performing Arts excursions, join the Sound Team, go on an Aged Care Concert Tour, and many other exciting events.
