Friday mornings before school Science and STEM Academy has launched and students have been hard at work on an aviation project.
They have been building, testing and modifying aeroplanes that use electric motors to spin around a central point and lift into the air using centripetal force. The students need to be very precise when making their aircraft as small variations in balance and weight can cause the aeroplanes to not generate the lift required to get airborne.
We have had most groups get their aeroplanes into the air and groups are now modifying their designs to increase the height at which the aircraft can fly and the amount of weight they can carry.
