Earlier in the term, Kolbe welcomed Father Thair and Father Mahir from Our Lady Guardian of Plants Chaldean Church and Father Paul of St George’s Chaldean Church to discuss contemporary issues. The only agenda item was ‘welcome’, seeking opportunities to enable open communication between our college and the Chaldean priests who serve our broader community.
All parties enjoyed fruitful dialogue, exploring the complex nature of Catholic education in an increasingly secular world, especially here in the outer northern suburbs of Melbourne. One of Kolbe’s numerous strengths is our faith-filled community, as many students have strong ties with our local Chaldean churches.
We look forward to investigating further opportunities to collaborate, including celebrating mass in our Chapel as well as offering the Sacrament of Reconciliation to our staff and students. We thank Father Thair, Father Mahir and Father Paul for taking time out of their busy schedules to meet with us and being so open to partnering with Kolbe into the future.
