Throughout March, our Senior Wellbeing program focused on equipping students with essential skills to navigate the challenges of VCE. Year 11 and 12 students engaged in targeted sessions designed to support their wellbeing, resilience, and personal growth during this demanding academic period.

Year 11 students explored the science of sleep with Dr Jade Murray from the Sleep Foundation. Understanding the impact of good sleep hygiene on brain function and overall wellbeing, students learned strategies to improve their rest—an often-overlooked yet crucial factor in academic success. With research highlighting the link between sleep and cognitive performance, this session empowered students to prioritise rest as a key component of their study routine.

Meanwhile, Year 12 students had the opportunity to hear from former Carlton footballer Glenn Manton during their Flexible Learning Leave. In an engaging and raw conversation, Glenn spoke about resilience, appreciation, and the importance of embracing change. His authentic storytelling resonated deeply with students, encouraging them to reflect on their own journeys of self-growth as they navigate the final year of their schooling.

In the high-pressure environment of VCE, wellbeing programs like these play a vital role in student success. Addressing key topics such as sleep, resilience, and self-awareness not only supports academic performance but also fosters a balanced approach to learning and personal development. By providing students with expert insights and real-world perspectives, these incursions help them build the skills needed to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
