Kolbe Catholic College is taking action to become more environmentally sustainable through an award-winning Victorian Government initiative called ResourceSmart Schools.
ResourceSmart Schools is a program that helps our school embed sustainability in everything we do. We are aiming to reduce our resource use (like electricity, waste and water) plus support indigenous plants and animals. We would like to involve staff, students, families and other members of our school and local community, with any projects that the school may take on.
Kolbe Catholic College is working with Jason Sheehan from CERES Community Environment Park, on key modules, to help the school achieve a 5-Star Sustainability Certification.
For the remainder of this year and beyond, we are aiming to:
- create a strong foundation for our sustainability program
- continue to build on our sustainability achievements
- improve our gardens
- improve our energy/waste/water systems
- get our community involved
- participate in exciting events
- support our students
- include sustainability in our curriculum
- be a school that is a native biodiversity haven for our local flora and fauna
- and so much more!
The school can’t wait to share our achievements with you, see our gardens grow, reduce our school’s impact, help make God’s world a better place for all, and contribute to a sustainable future for all.
