What an honour it was to view the Lume: Leonardo Da Vinci’s 500 years of Genius exhibition in the city, on Thursday 23 May, with our Art and Italian students in Years 9 to 12.
Leonardo’s incredible work was displayed in various ways such as: his drawings of models, sketches of architecture and anatomy, letters he wrote about philosophy and of course, his paintings, in particular, the Mona Lisa which the original one is in the Louvre Museum in Paris, and the Last Supper which is located in the Santa Maria Delle Grazie Church and Convent in Milan. The replica paintings were also shown in digital form across the walls and ceilings with Italian music playing in the background.
It was a spectacular way to view the exhibition as it provided a magical touch of beauty, intelligence, wonder and awe. The students were thoroughly impressed with the day out and we leave you with one of Leonardo’s famous quotes: "Fix your course with a star and you can navigate any storm." - Leonardo Da Vinci
