As Term 3 comes to a close, we’re excited to share some highlights from our Visual Arts program.

In Year 7, students created a sculptural artwork focused on blue-tongued lizards. This artwork ties into their exploration of the Australian landscape and provides them with valuable experience in engaging with the process of creating three-dimensional forms. Students learnt the historical background and context of dot painting, including its significance in Indigenous art and culture, while also understanding that it is not a traditional form within Victorian Koorie artistic practices. Students apply the technique to their blue-tongued lizard sculptures with a focus on repetition, colour and authentic symbolism.

Our Year 10 Photography students have been experimenting with the painting with light technique, utilising various shutter speeds to achieve intriguing effects. This approach has allowed them to create photographs that emphasise line, shape, and contrast.

Our Year 10 Art students have been engaged with the intricate process of mosaic making with the support of mosaic artist Catherine Day. Students began by collaborating on a unified concept and then crafted individual artwork sections. The final stage involves assembling these pieces into a 3D concrete form and adding grout into the gaps, resulting in vibrant and cohesive forms.

We look forward to exhibiting these completed artworks and much more at the Art Exhibition on the 15th of October from 4:30pm - 6:30pm.
