The start of term two has been busy with a number of wellbeing and pastoral events at Kolbe. This included Year 9 students engaging in wellbeing activities with the Reach Foundation and Year 7 students finding their feet and building further connections with their peers at the Anglesea camp.

This term students from Year 8-12 were selected to represent their peers as members of the Kolbe Senate. Through listening to student voices the College aims to increase student engagement and a sense of belonging, encourage collaboration, and build a positive school culture and environment. The students had the opportunity to participate in the headspace Youth Advocacy Wellbeing Training delivered by headspace Craigieburn's Youth Advocacy Group. So far students have developed an understanding of what wellbeing and advocacy means, and what advocating within the school environment looks like. They have explored their strengths as a leader and how they can utilise these in their role. In teams, students have begun working on an action plan to propose a positive change in the school. Going forward students will have the ability to practice their public speaking skills and pitch their ideas to a member of leadership. We look forward to following the students' progress throughout their training and supporting them to make meaningful changes in the College.

What to do when you see distressing content online? (e-Safety Commissioner)

Online spaces should be safe for everyone. If your child sees violent or distressing material, it is important to check in and talk to them about the content they have seen.

  • Don't share it further – even if your intention is to help or raise awareness, you may cause distress to others.
  • Report it to the platform to help get the material removed quickly.
  • If the material is not removed, you can report it to eSafety. eSafety can notify the platform to either remove the content or block access from within Australia. Your actions could protect you and others from seeing that content again.
